UBM Medica (NZ) Ltd (formally CMPMedica (NZ) Ltd is the owner of the websites: everybody.co.nz (including everybody Communities), PharmacyLive.co.nz and liveto100.co.nz
We also publish two newspapers New Zealand Doctor and Pharmacy Today, for New Zealand health professionals, and the doctors’ drugs reference text MIMS New Ethicals.
Quality assurance
Our websites aim to provide useful and accurate consumer health information for New Zealanders. The information is written and/or reviewed by medical writers, consumer health organisations, pharmacists, dietitians and other health professionals. Professional reviewers are chosen with regard to their area of expertise and the topic being developed.
Content is written for the reader seeking general health information. It offers a concise overview of health conditions, and treatments, pharmacy, and health and wellbeing information. For this reason we do not (as a rule) publish all of the references to support our text. We do, where possible, offer links to reputable institutions, resources and support groups.
The editorial team believes the development of consumer health information requires input from consumers, writers and health professionals. We endeavour to work with established consumer organisations wherever possible and to publish information relevant to the people they represent. Nearly all topics include information on where New Zealanders can go for additional information and support.
The content is reviewed regularly to ensure it is up-to-date.
A complete healthcare resource
Our websites aim to provide a complete healthcare resource, including: health topics, motivational tools and health stories, comprehensive listings of health support groups, online forums for support, and search facilities for local health professionals using several criteria, including specialty and gender.
Advertising
Our websites are commercial websites, but advertising does not influence the content they contain. Users can be sure the information provided is unbiased and credible. Our websites also abide by the HON Code principles of the Health on the Net Foundation.
Award winning website
Our longest-running website, everybody.co.nz, was the winner of the 2007 Qantas Media Award for Best Public Information Website.
The judge’s summary said, "This site has a simple and clean design, which makes it very easy to use. Given the internet is awash with medical information sites, one might be dubious about another one. However, the content on this site is excellent and also has local focus. What I found was very comprehensive, well organised and the layout of the site is very intuitive. The content is readable and accessible, not overwhelming and although it uses plain English it doesn't avoid important medical terms. There is a good use of text and graphics, suitable warnings and perhaps most importantly information on where to go for more detailed or professional help. This site stands out because of its completeness and quality."
